Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince together make up the Kills, a British-American rock duo who formed while bonding over Edie Sedgwick 12 years ago. Following suit, the pair regularly stay at the Hotel Chelsea when they’re in New York City, and Hince—who married Kate Moss earlier this month wearing a double-breasted powder blue Yves Saint Laurent suit with fitted trousers—often requests the Warhol star’s former room, number 103.
Their attention to detail can be heard in their music, as much as it is seen in their sense of style. Here’s a look at a sampling of their laid back, inherently rock ‘n’ roll sensibility.
Since the early 90′s musician Vanessa Paradis has been a style inspiration of mine. She brings a timeless elegance to whatever she’s wearing—no matter how simple or trendy.
Many recognize Vanessa as Karl Lagerfeld’s muse—appearing in Chanel advertisements, and in fashion editorials shot by the designer—or on the arm of Johnny Depp, as his longtime partner. But on top of modeling and her high-profile relationship, Vanessa is actually an accomplished actress and musician. In 1987, when she was just 14, Vanessa had a #1 hit record in France and the UK with “Joe le taxi.” She has recorded ten albums, the latest being 2010′s Une nuit Ă Versailles, and has appeared in several films, most famously “Noce Blanche”, for which she won the 1990 CĂ©sar Award for Most Promising Actress.
She’s wonderful to watch live, and whether she’s on stage, or in a fashion editorial, Paradis always adds her own bit of whimsy and poise to her look.
The recent weather in New York has us slipping into our new spring clothes, and downloading our iPods with new spring music to score our leisurely walks around town. Our spring playlist isn’t actually new—we’ve just been waiting since the Charlotte Ronson Spring 2011 show to put the tracks on heavy rotation. Samantha Ronson, Charlotte’s twin sister, put together their favorite tracks and sent the models down the Spring Runway in step with tunes that pair perfectly with our new Kurt Open Toe Canvas Booties and Stripe Knit Long Dress. Here’s what Charlotte and Samantha have us tapping our feet to this spring.

Each season, there’s a multitude of reasons why we get so excited to show our newest collection. Seeing our friends and family all in one place, watching the collection finally hit the runway after months and months of preparation, and finally getting to hear the music that makes the show come to life are all bonuses that motivate us to work so hard.
We’re fortunate enough to call Samantha Ronson, Charlotte’s twin sister, our resident DJ for the event, and everyone has come to associate the CR show with a fantastic soundtrack. And what can we say, our F/W 2011 only solidified that fact. From old school rock from The Clash to the soulful voice of Adele, there was plenty to tap our feet to. And now, for your listening pleasure, here’s the playlist that took us into Fall; time to update those iPods!
The F/W 2011 playlist:
Adele – Rolling in the Deep
Alexander Dexter-Jones – Phantastic Phone Call
The Strokes – Under Cover of Darkness
The Clash – Guns of Brixton
Arcade Fire – We Used to Wait
Arcade Fire – City with No Children
Samantha Ronson – Chasing the Reds
Finale: Â The Black Keys – Howlin’ For You
