Charlotte Ronson Spring 2012— Backstage Beauties

Annabelle with her namesake shade of A Perfect Kiss

One of our favorite things about Charlotte’s show has always been the beauty. Whether it’s a ballerina bun paired with a healthy flush like in Spring 2009, or last Spring’s messy braids and lightly smudged monochromatic shadow, the beauty looks add to the narrative of the season’s overall story. This year was a particularly exciting time for crafting the perfect look to go with the line: it was the first season that Charlotte’s beauty line for Sephora was used to pull everything together. The Sephora PRO Beauty Team led by Gilbert Soliz created a look that was natural with just a hint of grunge to evoke a no-makeup makeup look that looked pretty and put-together. Gilbert explained to all of us beauty junkies backstage: “You need to look glowing—but really glowing—not a fake, makeup glow.” He used All Eye Need Eye Shadow Palette, and  3 X A Charm as the basis of his look, and warmed up a little of the A Perfect Kiss lip gloss to create a muted stain rather than glossy color. Finishing with a little of the Closer Light Filter Powder, Gilbert’s team created a beautiful, natural springtime glow that felt right with the soft color washes of the collection, and the “Victorian” ponytails that Jeanie Syfu for TRESemmĂ© directed.
